What are the advantages of a personnel registry?

Silver Lining maintains a qualified registry of personnel who provide a wide range of assisted care. The scope of our registry gives us the opportunity to make an informed match between patient and caregiver. We are ready to respond immediately, placing a qualified aide in the home as soon as the need arises. It's important to us that you feel comfortable with your aide. If for any reason the provided caregiver is not a suitable match, we will replace them with someone who is. We also conduct ongoing evaluations of each caregiver's performance.

What is the screening process for hiring caregivers?

In keeping with Silver Lining's personal approach – our basic premise is this – we do not place any caregiver for you or your loved ones who we would not have care for our families.

Every caregiver interviewed by Silver Lining goes through a rigorous screening process. First, applicants must be qualified to work in the US. They must have at least 3 years experience and verifiable references. If the applicant is a certified nurse's aide, we keep a copy of the certification on file and make sure it is current. Every individual is required to submit to and pass a criminal background check. A current driver's license and proof of insurance must be presented by any caregiver who will be driving.

Qualified applicants are scheduled for an interview with the director of operations, Sandra Thompson. They are asked to complete a Skills Survey and a Home Health Aide Skills Test. During a comprehensive orientation, the applicant is introduced to the guidelines and conduct expected of a home health aide at Silver Lining. President, Jonathan Golluber, personally meets each prospective caregiver as a final screening.

What is the process of matching caregiver to client?

Silver Lining begins with a thorough intake conference with our patient or their family, either face to face or by phone at home, hospital or office. We take this opportunity to understand the needs of each client family. We want to know the personality and special needs of the patient – helping us to determine if the patient needs a certified nurse's aide or a companion. We ask if there are friends and family members in the area to provide support and companionship It's important for us to know if the patient feels isolated or is resistant to care. Does the patient require transportation for medical appointments, shopping and other errands?

Ultimately, you will have the opportunity to meet with your recommended caregiver in a one-on-one interview or, if you prefer, with your family. We want you to be confident that the best caregiver has been selected for you and that your opinion is integral to that process.
